The preseason AP Top 25 has been released, ranking the best college football teams in the country heading into the 2012 regular season. Perhaps not surprisingly, only one of the local schools was able to crack the list. The AP poll -- like all other college football rankings -- never provides a shortage of controversy or argument, so hit the jump to see where the locals schools ranked -- or didn't.
The West Virginia Mountaineers ended up being the only school to make the list, clocking in at No. 11. They finished their 2011 season as the No. 17 team in the country after going 10-3. They'll do their best to crack the top 10 early in the season.
Neither the Pittsburgh Panthers nor the Penn St. Nittany Lions received votes in the poll.
