Steelers Injury News: Casey Hampton Has Elbow 'Fixed'

Casey Hampton is hoping to play in the season opener for the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 9. Hampton recently had a procedure done on his left elbow, though the veteran nose tackle would not say what kind of procedure.

Hampton said about the procedure and his potential return:

"I just got my elbow fixed. [It'll] get healed up."

"I'll be out there playing soon, hopefully," Hampton added. "That's my goal: being out there for the first game. And I'm not worried about the knee at all."

Hampton, who had ACL surgery in January, was removed from the Steelers' physically unable to perform list last Friday, but it is doubtful that the will appear in either of the two remaining preseason games for Pittsburgh.

Hampton has 347 tackles and nine sacks in his 12-year career with the Steelers.
