The Pittsburgh Steelers will take on the Buffalo Bills on Saturday for their ever-critical third game of the preseason. This week is often considered a dress rehearsal for the regular season, as teams often choose to shut down starters for Week 4 of the preseason. The Steelers won't have their full starting offense on the field, however. Mike Wallace is expected to finally sign with the team after the game, and running backs Isaac Redman (hip) and Rashard Mendenhall (knee) are banged up. Redman expects to play, though in what capacity remains to be seen. Mendenhall will sit.
The Bills are relatively healthy, but they have struggled mightily in the preseason, regardless. They have scored a total of 20 points on their way to an 0-2 record. A retooled defense apparently suffered a setback as well. After giving up just seven points in Week 1 against the Washington Redskins, Buffalo allowed 36 points against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2.
The Steelers are 1-1 in the preseason. They are coming off a 26-24 win over the Indianapolis Colts that wasn't nearly as close early. Ben Roethlisberger went 5-for-9 passing for 81 yards, one touchdown and one interception to help Pittsburgh to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
