Paul Alexander, Pittsburgh Sports Personality, May Be In Trouble For DUI

Paul Alexander, the host of The Fan Morning Show on 93.7 The Fan and a host on ROOT Sports, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon for suspicion of driving under the influence after he hit another car and didn't stop, the Post-Gazette reports. Alexander was driving on the Parkway East. A police officer saw the wreck, pulled Alexander over, and administered a field sobriety test. He didn't pass. He then took a blood test, and whether charges are pressed will depend upon the result. It will take a couple weeks before Alexander's blood test results come back.

Alexander did not appear on The Fan Wednesday morning, but a representative of the station says he will return Thursday.

Michael Young, the vice-president and market manager for CBS Pittsburgh, declined to say why Mr. Alexander was not on the air this morning or on the incident.

"Paul will be back on the air [Thursday]," he said.

A DUI is a serious offense, and it doesn't bode well for Alexander if he was driving drunk in the afternoon, but many public figures have survived a DUI with their careers basically intact. That includes Pirates president Frank Coonelly, who had one over the offseason.
