Behind The Steel Curtain looks at the winners and losers on the Steelers' roster after the team's 31-19 loss to the Broncos Sunday night. Obviously, it wasn't a great day for the team as a whole, but there were a number of players who improved their stock, including running back Jonathan Dwyer.
↵↵↵In a game plan clearly geared toward establishing the run - which had been the buzz throughout the offseason - Dwyer was the running back who clearly outrushed the others. Isaac Redman averaged an appalling 1.8 yards per carry (11 rushes, 20 yards), while Dwyer banged out 43 yards on nine carries.
↵Dwyer's best run was called off on a holding penalty on wide receiver Mike Wallace, but even with that, he would have still gained 10 yards or so. His lower body strength was impressive, often being very close to the ground but still managing to plow ahead for additional yardage.

Dwyer was a big part of the Steelers' offense last night, especially in the second half. Isaac Redman was the presumptive starter after Rashard Mendenhall went down, but Dwyer had a much better game.
↵Another winner was rookie offensive lineman Mike Adams, who had a rough preseason but who had a solid game on Sunday, when it mattered. Among the losers were Keenan Lewis and Cortez Allen, who struggled in the Steelers' secondary after battling one another for a starting job this preseason.
