Virginia Tech Vs. Pitt: What Might Game Mean For Tino Sunseri?

Cardiac Hill argues that Pitt's game on Saturday against Virginia Tech should be crucial to Tino Sunseri as he tries to maintain control of the Panthers' starting quarterback job.

With no prospects of a BCS bowl, and it looking more and more likely that any bowl is altogether out of the question, Tino Sunseri needs to immediately improve his game or make way for younger blood. If this season truly is a lost cause, to be thrown out and forgotten like love letters from your crazy ex, then its time to embrace change and give someone else a chance.

It's hard to argue that. Sunseri already has had a checkered career at Pitt, and the Panthers are coming off an embarrassing loss against Youngstown State and a blowout loss at Cincinnati. Sunseri's struggles aren't entirely his fault, as he's had to deal with a number of coaching changes and a questionable offensive line, but at some point, there just isn't much upside in continuing to run him out there. Freshman quarterback Chad Voytik might not be ready, but if Pitt falls to 0-3, it's probably time for the Panthers to shrug their shoulders and give him a shot.
