Pitt Basketball Recruiting: Josh Newkirk Commits To Panthers

After visiting the school recently, point guard Josh Newkirk has decided to commit to the Panthers today.

↵

Newkirk is rated as a four-star recruit by Scout and was heavily pursued. Rivals, who lists him as a three-star, says he had offers from Arizona, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Memphis, Missouri, North Carolina State, Oklahoma State, and Tennessee. That's quite the list of impressive programs.

↵

NBE ranks him as the 90th overall player and Scout ranks him as the No. 21 point guard in the nation for the Class of 2013.

↵

Newkirk gives Pitt another point guard for the future as he'll join 2012 recruit James Robinson. The duo should help stock the position with the departure of Tray Woodall after this season. Pitt also has Cameron Wright there for the future as he is only entering his sophomore year this fall.
