Phil Taylor receives small fine for hit on Steelers' Kelvin Beachum

NFL fines Browns defensive tackle Phil Taylor for unnecessary roughness against Steelers' Kelvin Beachum on Sunday.

The Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers both played their final games of the year on Sunday, but Browns defensive tackle Phil Taylor received a $7,875 fine from the NFL for his illegal hit on Steelers offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum on Friday, via Nate Ulrich of The Akron Beacon Journal.

Taylor blind-sided Beachum with a hit that was nowhere near the ball. The Steelers offensive lineman is now dealing with a concussion.

The hit did not draw a penalty during the game, perhaps because the referees missed the action away from the play. However, the NFL is making sure Phil Taylor pays the price, albeit a small one, for his illegal hit deemed as unnecessary roughness by the league office

Though Pittsburgh's playoffs hopes were dead, the team defeated Cleveland by the score of 24-10 to finish an even 8-8 on the season.
