Pitt lost both of their basketball and football games on Saturday, but the day was salvaged a bit with news that wide receiver recruit Tyler Boyd verbally committed to Paul Chryst and the Panthers.
Boyd is perhaps the highest-profile recruit for the program for 2013. After the loss of Robert Foster recently to Alabama, Boyd was a bit of a priority for the coaching staff. The team was in desperate need of a big time wide receiver, particularly after the losses of Mike Shanahan, Cam Saddler, and possibly even Devin Street this spring. Street is only a junior, but could leave early for the NFL Draft.
It was also important for the Panthers to secure Boyd, who is a local prospect. Chryst and his staff have been working to keep top talent in western Pennsylvania at Pitt and , a four-star recruit rated by several sources, is surely one of the area's best players.
