Joe Paterno Blasted By Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ron Cook

Like it or not, even when you've won almost 400 games (most ever), 24 bowl games (most ever), and two national championships, there will still always be detractors. For Joe Paterno, one of those people is Ron Cook. I am preparing an article that addresses this very situation, but as a precursor, read Ron Cook's piece on Paterno.

For a number of years, Paterno has been a figurehead and done more delegating to his staff than actual coaching and recruiting. Maybe he's doing even less this season. Whatever.

Oh really, Ron? You've spent time with the team? Inside the locker room? In the booth? Oh, no. You haven't.

The coach has to, you know, actually do some coaching for his team to have its best chance of success.

Two Big Ten titles, four for five in bowl games, and averaging more than 10 wins per season over the past five years isn't success? C'mon, Ron.
