Penn State kicker Collin Wagner was named the Big Ten Sprecial Teams Player of the Week on Monday following his performance in the Nittany Lions' 41-31 win over Michigan on Saturday at Beaver Stadium.
↵Wagner drilled two key field goals in the second half against the Wolverines and converted a late first down by rushing to the sticks on a fake field goal.
↵The honor comes on top of what has been a good season overall for Wagner. He is 7/8 on field goals beyond 40 yards and is 20/23 overall.
↵In 2009, Wagner was part of a weak Penn State special teams unit, converting on only 15/22 field goals and only one from beyond 40 yards, but the senior has really stepped up his game in 2010.
↵Notes: Penn State's game at home against Northwestern on Saturday will kick at 3:30 p.m. on ABC regional. Once Penn State won Saturday night, it was clear the network would not pass up a chance to broadcast what could be Joe Paterno's 400th career win, so the announcement was merely a formality.
