The U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution today by a vote of 417-3 honoring Joe Paterno, not only for his 400 victories, but also his great contributions to society. Pennsylvania Representative Glenn Thompson sponsored the resolution.
↵↵↵The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a resolution recognizing Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno for his 400th career victory and for his "on- and off-the-field example of honor, success, integrity and respect for thousands of players, coaches, students and fans throughout the nation." The resolution, sponsored by Pennsylvania Rep. Glenn Thompson, passed Nov. 17 by a landslide, 417-3.

The three "Nay" votes were from: Rep. Jason Shaffetz (R-UT), Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-ILL), and Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY). There were 13 members "Not Voting."
↵Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) has a similar legislative action planned for the U.S. Senate, but the wording will be slightly different due to Senate rules.
