Maggie Lucas Leading Penn State Lady Lions

One of the big questions facing the Penn State Lady Lions entering this season was how coach Coquese Washington's squad would replace the scoring of departed senior Tyra Grant. Only a few weeks into the 2010-2011 season, however, the Lady Lions appear to have their answer in the form of freshman Maggie Lucas.

The former McDonald's All-American recruit grabbed her third straight Big Ten Freshman of the Week award on Friday after averaging 19 points and two rebounds in Penn State's games this past week, a loss to Boston College on the road and a win at home over Texas Tech.

Lucas is second on the team in scoring at just over 16 points per game. Her contributions have fueled a nice 7-2 start that should put Penn State in good position when it begins Big Ten play against Iowa on December 30.
