The East team won the East West Shrine Game Saturday 25-8, and Penn State's Evan Royster was part of the reason why, scoring a touchdown in the first quarter and rushing for 38 yards on nine attempts. Another local player, Fairmont State's Perry Baker, had one reception for 15 yards for the East.
↵Syracuse running back Delone Carter had 11 rushes for 54 yards and a first-quarter touchdown for the East, and North Carolina's Marvin Austin recovered a fumble for a game-sealing touchdown in the fourth quarter. Navy's Ricky Dobbs added five rushes for 40 yards and went 5-for-10 for 51 yards passing, and Virginia Tech's Tyrod Taylor went 4-for-5 for 59 yards. Richmond's Marvin Parker had two sacks and forced a fumble.
↵For the West, Portland State's Julius Thomas caught a five-yard touchdown pass from Idaho's Nathan Enderle, and Texas A&M's Jerrod Johnson had 54 yards on 6-for-12 passing, but the East's defense held the West to just 112 yards passing and 14 yards rushing.
