Penn State vs. Indiana: Nittany Lions and Hoosiers Exchange Punts

Penn State follows its punt up by giving up a deep pass from Dusty Kiel to Demarlo Belcher, plus getting hit with a facemask penalty. All of a sudden, Indiana is in business and threatening to extend its 3-0 lead.

Nick Sukay is down for the Lions. Buzz on Twitter from the press box says it looks like his left leg. The secondary is already missing cornerback D'Anton Lynn today. The absence of Sukay would definitely be a concern, especially the way Kiel and the Hoosiers have been attacking Penn State through the air early on.

Just as I say that, the secondary comes up with a couple of tackles-for-loss on bubble screens by the Hoosiers and follow that up by forcing an incompletion on third down. Penn State gets the ball back as Justin Brown calls a fair catch at his own 22-yardline on the ensuing punt.

Matthew McGloin is back at quarterback for Penn State. He opens the drive with a nice scramble for a couple of yards. Smart play with no one open. After earning a first down, though, the Lions' offense stalls again.

On the punt, Penn State lets the returner get free to the 26-yardline and follows that up with a late-hit on him out of bounds. Great field position for Indiana here on another brain fart from Penn State.

Sukay has returned to the game.

On third down, Kiel is forced to scramble and is stopped short of the first down. Another three-and-out for the Penn State defense. With the offense struggling, the defense is doing its best to keep Penn State in the game. The Lions still trail 3-0, though, with just under nine minutes to play in the half.
