Penn State vs. Iowa: Lions Get Stop On Hawkeyes' Opening Series

Iowa won the toss and elected to receive. Penn State's defense will take the field first, which the way the offense has been performing, probably isn't such a bad thing for the Nittany Lions.

James Vandenberg's first throw of the afternoon is an incompletion and the Hawkeyes follow that up with a run that's smothered by Penn State's Jack Crawford. Drew Astorino misses a tackle on third down, however, and Vandenberg completes a 13-yard pass for an Iowa first down.

Iowa gets over midfield with another completion from Vandenberg and Marcus Coker run, and follows that up with another first down on a pass to Marcus Coker.

Penn State is leaving a lot open on the outside right now. We'll see if they can clamp down on that as the game moves along.

The Lions finally get a stop as Devon Still takes down Coker in the backfield and the defense forces Vandenberg to fall short of a first down on a scramble.

With 9:52 to play in the first quarter, it's still 0-0
