Penn State vs. Ohio State: Lions Hold Lead Down The Stretch

COLUMBUS, Ohio--Penn State starts the fourth quarter defensively in a 4-4-3 formation with four linebackers rather than the standard three. Interesting development. It looks like the Penn State staff wants to force Ohio State to win with the pass. The Buckeyes have 75 yards passing to this point.

Right on cue, though, Ohio State goes to the air and quarterback Braxton Miller finds DeVier Posey for 12 yards up to the 29-yardline. The drive stalls, though, after Miller misses a deep ball to Corey Brown down inside the Penn State 20-yardline. The Buckeyes punt, and Penn State takes over at its own 25-yardline.

The Nittany Lions come out in the wildcat and pick up eight on a direct snap to Curtis Drake. Stephfon Green moves the chains with a run up to the 35-yardline. A false start on second down after a run by Green to start the next set of downs leaves Penn State in a 2nd-and-11 situation, but Matthew McGloin finds Brandon Beachum for 13 as the Lions drive toward midfield now.

Bill Belton takes a direct snap on first down for a gain of two yards. Beachum then gets five yards to set up a 3rd-and-3. Micahel Zordich drops a screen, and Penn State is forced to punt.

With 7:16 left in the game, Penn State continues to lead 20-14.
