The Penn State Nittany Lions dug themselves a hole before halftime with turnovers, setting up the Wisconsin Badgers in scoring range. It happened again on the first drive of the second half when Silas Redd fumbled the ball, giving it right back to the Badgers. After two long completions by quarterback Russell Wilson, Montee Ball ran the ball in from 9 yards out for his third touchdown of the day.
On the Lions ensuing drive, PSU marched 45 yards down the field to the Wisconsin 25-yard line, but a failure to convert a fourth down gave the ball right back to the Badgers, who went just 14 yards before themselves turning the ball over to PSU.
It looked like the Lions would put some points on the board and mount a comeback on an 89-yard touchdown run by Stephfon Greene, but it was called back for an illegal block. The Lions then went three and out, giving the ball back to the Badgers who continued the route. It took just three plays that went a total of 45 yards and ended on an 18-yard touchdown run by Montee Ball, his fourth of the day, to put the Badgers up 42-7.
