Bowl Projections: Liberty Bowl On Table For Big East Teams

Pitt could slip into an SEC bowl slot with a win next weekend.

While the Big East bowl picture remains unclear heading into next weekend's season-ending slate of games, the conference may have found a landing sport for its at-large team should its number of bowl-eligible teams exceed its number of tie-ins. CBS' Brett McMurphy tweets...

W/SEC unable to fill all bowl slots, Liberty will take Big East team instead of SEC & St. Pete may have to take Sun Belt instead of Big East

"St. Pete" refers to the Beef O'Brady's Bowl on Dec. 20 in St. Petersburg, Fla., which is at the bottom of the Big East's bowl tie-in pecking order and remains a possible landing spot for Pitt should it become bowl eligible next weekend with a win against Syracuse. It would appear the Big East could fulfill its commitment to the Beef O'Brady's Bowl and send a team to the Liberty Bowl as well should Pitt win next weekend. At that point, it would be up to the bowls above these two (ie Belk, Pinstripe and Compass) to determine who falls to them.
