Penn State Coaching Search: Mario Cristobal On List, According To Report

Florida International coach Mario Cristobal has repeatedly been tied to Pittsburgh's head coaching position in the wake of former Panthers coach Todd Graham's departure for Arizona State last week. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Paul Zeise is now naming him in the Penn State search as well, however, despite reported frontrunner status at Pitt.

I've had several people tell me things seem to be leaning his way [at Pitt] but I don't think it is a "done deal" or anything close to that. The strange thing about this all is he apparently is also still on the list at Penn State, so he obviously has a lot of thinking to do in the next two days or so.

Cristobal just finished his fifth season with the Golden Panthers and has a career record of 24-27, though he has posted back-to-back winning seasons after three-straight losing campaigns to start his tenure. His 8-4 squad is set to take on Marshall in the Beef O'Brady's Bowl on Tuesday in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The 41-year old held assistant positions at Miami and Rutgers before his stint at Florida International.
