Joe Paterno Out Of The Hospital, According To Report

ESPN's Joe Schad is reporting that former Penn State coach Joe Paterno has been released from an area hospital after suffering a pelvis injury as result of a fall at his home last week. The 84-year old is also undergoing treatment following a lung cancer diagnosis last month, revealed after his Nov. 9 firing in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky chils sex abuse scandal, and Schad reports he's in the process of a rocky recovery.

The source said the former Penn State coach does not like being immobile and that cancer treatments "are really taking a lot out of him.

"He is determined and he has not lost his spirit, but it's a lot to handle," the source said. "He has his good days and bad."

Paterno also injured his pelvis during the preseason when Nittany Lions wide receiver Devon Smith collided with him during practice. Before his firing, Paterno spent most of the season coaching from the press box, never spending more than a half coaching from the Penn State sideline.
