Former Indianapolis Colts and Super Bowl-winning coach Tony Dungy is not interested in replacing Joe Paterno at Penn State according to John Saraceno of USA Today.

Former NFL coach Tony Dungy said Monday that he is not a candidate to replace ousted Penn State football coach Joe Paterno.

"I'm flattered when people mention my name, but I'm really in the parent mode right now,'' Dungy, currently an analyst for NBC, tells USA TODAY.

Though no hard reporting has ever tied Dungy to Penn State, his name did come up in a widely-circulated email about the future of Penn State football last December. It's worth pointing out that the same email said that former coach Joe Paterno had stomach cancer and that the Nittany Lions' game against Florida in the Outback Bowl on New Year's Day would be his final game, both of which proved to be grossly inaccurate. The email did put Dungy on the radar of a lot of Penn State fans, however, so word that he's not looking at making a move to Happy Valley is moderately newsworthy.
