Penn State Crushed At Illinois

Penn State was spanked soundly and sent straight to bed by Illinois Tuesday night, as the Fighting Illini took down the Nittany Lions 68-51 in Champaign.

Talor Battle and Tim Frazier each had 12 points to lead Penn State in scoring and Frazier grabbed seven rebounds, as did Andrew Jones to lead the team in that category.

The Lions fell behind by as many as 15 points in the first half, but as they were closing toward the end of the half, leading rebounder and second leading scorer Jeff Brooks dislocated his shoulder. It was all downhill from there for Penn State.

↵

Brooks' status for Sunday's game against Michigan or beyond is unknown at the moment. We'll keep you posted here at SB Nation Pittsburgh.

The loss certainly hurts Penn State's NCAA Tournament resume, but it's far from crippling. The Lions need to beat the Wolverines on Sunday back at the Bryce Jordan Center, though. Three of Penn State's next four games will be at home so if the Lions are going to make a push, it would appear Sunday will be the beginning of it.
