NCAA Women's Tournament Scores: Notre Dame, Stanford Advance To Final Four

Notre Dame and Stanford made the Final Four in NCAA Women's Tournament action Monday night.

Notre Dame upset top-seeded Tennessee, 73-59, and will go on to face the winner of the upcoming matchup between Connecticut and Duke. Skylar Diggins scored 24 points for Notre Dame. The Irish jumped out to a 29-21 lead before halftime, and it looked for a while like Tennessee might be able to come back after Taber Spani made a three-pointer right before the buzzer and the Lady Vols scored the first two buckets in the second half. After that, though, Notre Dame rebuilt its lead and kept Tennessee at arm's length throughout the rest of the game.

Meanwhile, No. 1 Stanford blew out No. 11 Gonzaga, 83-60, despite the efforts of Gonzaga's Courtney Vandersloot and Kayla Standish, who had 25 and 17 points, respectively. As usual, Stanford's Chiney and Nnemkadi Ogwumike played a huge role in the Cardinal's success, putting up 41 points and 26 rebounds between them. Stanford won easily despite the fact that the game was played in Spokane, making it a home game for Gonzaga. Stanford will go on to face the winner of the Baylor / Texas A&M game today.
