Penn State Vs. Minnesota First Half Updates: Gophers Take Early Lead

Jeff Brooks gets Penn State started on offense, but Minnesota scores on its first two possessions to take an early lead.

Minnesota is getting to the offensive boards in the early going, which is bad news for Penn State. The Golden Gophers won the rebounding battle big back in State College and that was a major reason they were able to stay in the game.

The Gophers are getting every loose ball right now. They just look like they want it more. Penn State looks tentative and lackadaisical and Minnesota looks inspired. You'd expect to see it reversed considering the Gophers have little to play for and the Nittany Lions are still fighting for the NCAA Tournament.

Bad effort all across the floor. Pretty embarrassing. If this keeps up, the Lions can kiss March Madness goodbye.

Penn State goes on a quick 7-0 run to pull back to within one and the Barn has gone silent. Penn State really needed that. Things were going downhill in a hurry.

With 10:51 to play in the half, Minnesota leads Penn State 14-13.
