After knocking off No. 1 seeds Baylor and Connecticut, Texas A&M followed through and defeated Notre Dame en route to winning the national championship game of the 2011 NCAA Women's Tournament, 76-70.
Led by Skylar Diggins and Devereaux Peters, the Irish fought back from a nine-point deficit midway through the first half and took a two-point lead into halftime. Notre Dame then extended that lead by scoring the first four points of the second half.
After that, though, Danielle Adams took over for the Aggies, scoring a remarkable 22 points in the second half. A pair of foul shots by Adams brought the Aggies even with Notre Dame about six minutes into the half. After an Adams layup a few minutes later, they never trailed again. A Diggins jumper tied the game at 66 with four minutes to play, but Adams scored two straight buckets, and the Aggies held on.
Adams finished with 30 points, while Diggins had 23.
