Greg Roman A Candidate In Penn State Coaching Search, According To Report

Tom Dienhart of the Big Ten Network reports that you can add Greg Roman’s name to the list of Penn State head football coaching candidates.

I have learned 49ers OC Greg Roman is a candidate for the Penn State job. He interviewed a month ago and recently talked again with PSU.

Roman became the 49ers’ offensive coordinator this season. Before that, he worked for Jim Harbaugh at Stanford for two years, where he helped Andrew Luck become a top quarterback, and before that, he coached for the Panthers, Texans and Ravens. This year, led by Roman's conservative offensive strategy, the 49ers finished No. 29 in the NFL in passing yards (with Alex Smith at the helm) and No. 8 in rushing yards. They had fewer turnovers than any other NFL team.

The report that Roman is a candidate is drawing mixed reviews on Twitter. But if we’ve learned anything from Penn State’s coaching search, it’s that a tweet that the Nittany Lions have talked to someone or are interested in someone doesn’t necessarily mean much.
