Penn State Coaching Search: Greg Roman Talks About Job

San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman told ESPN Radio 97.3 in New Jersey on Tuesday that he's "100 percent focused" on his team's first playoff game. But, as Comcast Sports Net's Matt Maiocco reports, the first-year coordinator had high praise for the Penn State job he was linked to by reports on Monday.

"I've spoken with Penn State, had some discussions with them about a month ago and found everybody involved on their end to be extremely intelligent, extremely focused on finding the best person they could under the unique circumstances there at Penn State,"

...

"And a job like Penn State is a lifetime job. That's a job if I were to become the head coach there, I'd wouldn't leave there.

It's very interesting to see Roman talking so openly about his apparent candidacy at Penn State. To this point, reported outside candidates have said almost nothing about their talks with acting athletic director David Joyner and his six person search committee. That Roman feels so free to speak is certainly a departure from the norm. Will it work out? Looks like we'll find out.
