When Penn State announced on Friday night that it has hired now-former New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien to replace Joe Paterno as head coach, Nittany Lions players took to Twitter to react to the hiring. Mark Brennan of Fight On State reported that they completed a conference call with their new coach shortly before his hiring was initially announced at about 9:45 p.m. on Friday evening.
Audrey Snydeer of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported on Friday night that a team source expects O'Brien to meet with his new players for an optional meeting on Sunday. Some players are still not back in State College yet, as Winter Break does not end until Monday morning, when classes resume at University Park.
Below are a few of the Twitter reactions posted by players on Friday.
