Kerry Collins Reacts To Bill O'Brien Hire At Penn State

While some Penn State lettermen including former All-Americans LaVar Arrington and Brandon Short are bashing Penn State's decision to hire Joe Paterno's replacement from outside of the program, former All-American and current Indianapolis Colts quarterback Kerry Collins supports the school's selection of Bill O'Brien as new head coach on Friday, according to the Associated Press.

"Whether you agree or disagree with his hiring, we should support him,'' Collins said in a statement Friday night, according to the Reading Eagle. "Instead of chastising him for not being a Penn Stater, let's show him what it means to be a Penn Stater. ... Let's support him in any way we can.''

Collins is the lone remaining Nittany Lion quarterback in the NFL, besides the Seattle Seahawks' Michael Robinson, who plays running back in the pros after starting his senior season behind center at Penn State. With O'Brien, who has coached future Hall-of-Famer Tom Brady in New England for years, now on the staff, however, fans certainly hope Penn State can turn around its troubles producing elite college passers.

For the latest on Penn State's hire of Bill O'Brien, be sure to stay tuned to SB Nation Pittsburgh for updates.
