Big Ten Tournament 2012, Minnesota Vs. Michigan Recap: Trey Burke Leads Wolverines To Semifinals

The Michigan Wolverines advanced to the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament on Friday night with a 73-69 win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Wolverines went on a 17-3 run at the end of the game and overtime to tie it up and then pull away in the extra session. Michigan tied it on a beautiful play drawn up by head coach John Beilein, freeing Evan Smotrycz for a three-pointer to send it into OT.

Freshman Trey Burke had a monster game in his Big Ten tourney debut, scoring a career-high 30 points. Burke consistently got into the lane against the Golden Gopher defense, but also drilled three of four attempts from three-point range. Burke went the full forty minutes, and came up with a huge block on Minnesota's Andre Hollins which forced overtime. Tim Hardaway Jr. was the only other Wolverine in double figures, scoring 18 points.

Michigan will face the winner of the Ohio State and Purdue game, which will wrap up the second day of action in Indianapolis.
