Greg Webb Commits To Penn State

The Penn State Nittany Lions have nabbed a top defensive tackle recruit, grabbing their first interior lineman for the recruiting class of 2013. He's a four-star recruit who comes in at 6-foot-2, 300 pounds, and he's said to be a very mobile guy for his size. Our own Penn State Nittany Lions blog Black Shoe Diaries passed along the news.

Here's the ridiculously long list of schools that made Webb an offer: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Nebraska, UNC, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Rutgers, South Carolina, Tennessee, USC, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Black Shoe Diaries passed along an interesting story on how PSU almost lost out on Webb.

On a recruiting visit last year, Webb got seperated from the pack and was left on the outside looking in at the Penn State recruiting lounge, a misunderstanding that left an understandably sour taste in his mouth. After that trip, Penn State was not sitting well with Webb (and other Timber Creek prospects).

But that didn't stop the new staff (along with holdover Larry Johnson) from staying with the New Jersey guys. After a great trip two weekends ago, Webb's view of Penn State had done a complete U-turn, and after mulling over his myriad options, he has made the choice to play for Coach Johnson and Penn State.

Nice recovery, Coach Johnson.
