The Harrisburg Patriot-News has the latest on what new Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien might do about the Nittany Lions' murky quarterback situation, which currently appears to be a competition between last year's starters, Matt McGloin and Rob Bolden, along with Paul Jones.
↵↵↵McGloin is the only known commodity O’Brien has, though some would argue that’s not exactly a ringing endorsement. Like it or not — and many Penn State fans don’t — McGloin gives Penn State the best opportunity to win early in the season.
↵McGloin figures to benefit the most from the changes in coaches and schemes. The offense O’Brien ran for the New England Patriots last season featured many more shallow looks to tight ends, running backs and slasher types Wes Welker and Danny Woodhead.

Many Penn State partisans aren't huge fans of McGloin, but it looks like he has the inside track on the quarterback job. The Patriot-News notes that Jones is likely to be second in line, followed by Bolden. If McGloin is too erratic, as he frequently has been in his career so far, Jones would likely play. Of course, it's a long time before the start of the season, and nothing's definitive yet.
