Matt McGloin Injury Update: Penn State Quarterback Heads To Locker Room With Injured Elbow

Penn State starting quarterback Matt McGloin was injured in the second quarter of the Nittany Lions game against Virginia on Saturday. McGloin went to the locker room mid-way through the quarter after having his elbow hit by Cavaliers defenders on two consecutive series. Both hits came from the right side as he stood exposed in the pocket. He was crushed by the Virginia's Ausar Walcott and he immediately went off the field with his right arm and shoulder sagging. He went straight to the locker room with the Penn State training staff. The hits came on the inside of his elbow in the exact same spot.

Steven Bench, a true freshman, came on in relief for one play the first time McGloin banged his elbow. Paul Jones was also warming up on the sideline and it appeared he may come in after McGloin went to the locker room. But Bill O'Brien has decided to stick with Bench.

Penn State leads 7-3 in the second quarter.
