Matt McGloin Injury Update: Penn State QB Returns

Penn State quarterback has returned to the Virginia game in the third quarter after leaving for the locker room before halftime with an apparent elbow injury. McGloin had been hit on his throwing elbow in consecutive drives.

Freshman Steven Bench came in for McGloin in the one play he was out for the first collision, then again later in the next drive. But on 3rd-and-10 in the Nittany Lions' first possession of the third quarter, McGloin was back on the field and converted the first down with a 23-yard pass to Alex Kenney.

The two connected again on a 3rd and long play with Virginia's blitz in pursuit. With the Nittany Lions in striking distance, they had to settle for a field goal attempt from 20, which was wide right.

Virginia leads Penn State, 10-7 with under five minutes to go in the third quarter.
