Ashton Gibbs, Talor Battle On 2010-11 Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 List

The 2010-11 Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 list has been released and two local players made the cut.

Pitt shooting guard Ashton Gibbs was one of the representatives. Gibbs averaged more than 15 points per game last season, was named the Big East's Most Improved Player, and was voted to the All-Big East Second Team. He will look to lead a Pitt squad in 2010-11 that is regarded as a potential top-ten team.

Penn State guard Talor Battle is also on the list. He averaged more than 16 points per game for the Nittany Lions and was one of the top guards in the Big Ten last season. He declared early for the NBA Draft before withdrawing his name before the deadline. Battle will lead a veteran Penn State team that will look to get to postseason play this season.

Neither player likely has a realistic shot at winning the award, but it's nice to see them both get some national recognition.
