College Basketball Rankings: Pitt Ranked No. 5 In AP Poll

The Pitt men's basketball team is ranked fifth in this week's AP Poll, behind Duke, Michigan State, Kansas State and Ohio State. None of the big teams lost, so there wasn't much movement in the poll overall. The Panthers are off to a 3-0 start, with an uncomfortably tough win over Rhode Island and much easier ones against Illinois-Chicago and North Florida. If Pitt can beat Maryland in the Coaches Vs. Cancer classic on Thursday, the Panthers will face their most serious test so far this year, playing either Texas, which just missed the Top 25, or No. 13 Illinois in the championship. So look for next week's poll to tell us a lot more than this one does. Pitt will also face No. 23 Tennessee in December.
