The University of Miami has offered their vacant head coaching position to Al Golden, currently of the Temple Owls. The deal is expected to be finalized soon.
↵Golden's name has come up during Pitt's search for a new head coach, after six-year man Dave Wannstedt was fired last week. Golden's name has been a steady fixture on the "Who will replace Joe Paterno" watch list.
↵Golden, who has turned around a perennially underachieving Temple football program, is a graduate of Penn State. This move changes Penn State's selection list for whenever Joe says goodbye, and also definitively moves Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen to the top of the Pitt search list.
↵All of this comes in the midst of one of the fastest moving Coaching Carousels in recent memory, or at least one of the more high-profile ones: Texas "head coach in waiting" and defensive coordinator Will Muschamp took the Florida head coaching position on Saturday, while reports are starting to leak out that Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn is close to taking the Vanderbilt head coach position.
