Jameel Poteat De-Commits From Pitt, Adding To Pitt's Recent Recruiting Troubles

New, 1 comment

Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports (via Sean Fitz of Lions247.com) is reporting that Jameel Poteat of Bishop McDevitt HS (PA) has reopened his recruitment. This news comes just days after Bill Belton reopened his recruitment. Michael Haywood's uphill battle to keep recruits just got a little bit steeper.

Poteat is a four-star running back from Bishop McDevitt who chose Pitt in July. He had offers from Florida, USC, Iowa, and Notre Dame, among others. Noticeable absent from that list is Penn State. Apparently Poteat was never really interested in Penn State; further, Penn State does not have a great recruiting relationship with Poteat's high school.

Pitt now has 12 verbal commitments for 2011. With National Letter of Intent Day still more than 5 weeks away, and with reports surfacing that other Pitt commits have been talking to other schools, Pitt's once successful class is teetering on the verge of crumble.
