This week's college basketball rankings are out, and Pitt ranks No. 6 in the AP Poll. Duke continues to hold down the top spot, followed by Ohio State, Kansas, Connecticut, and Syracuse. West Virginia received votes and should move into the poll in a couple weeks if they beat No. 10 Georgetown. In the meantime, WVU doesn't have a regular-season game until next Wednesday, when it plays St. John's. Pitt, meanwhile, faces American this Wednesday and has a huge showdown against UConn next Monday.
↵Penn State isn't ranked, obviously, but it has an absolutely brutal stretch of games against ranked teams coming up as it enters Big Ten conference play. The Nittany Lions face No. 14 Purdue on January 5, then take on No. 12 Michigan State on January 8, No. 21 Illinois on January 11 and No. 2 Ohio State on January 15, all before facing Purdue again on the 19th.
