Several Pitt and West Virginia players accounted for nearly 40% of the Big East's All-First Team. The two schools combined to place nine players on the 25-man team. First-teamers included Pitt's Jabaal Sheard, Dom DeCicco, Dan Hutchins, Jon Baldwin, and Jason Pinkston, and West Virginia's Chris Neild, J.T. Thomas, Keith Tandy, and Robert Sands.
↵Both schools also contributed nine players to the second team. Those players were Pitt's Brandon Lindsey and Jarred Holley, and West Virginia's Scooter Berry, Bruce Irvin, Brandon Hogan, Tavon Austin, Jock Sanders, Don Barclay, and Geno Smith.
Sheard was also named the Big East's Defensive Player of the Year, for his huge season. The defensive end totaled nine sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. He was also previously named an AFCA All-American.
