Louisville basketball coach had a lot to say on Wednesday about the departures of Syracuse and Pitt from the Big East, some of it coherent, some of it, well ...
↵↵↵"My problem is not them leaving," he said. "My problem is you did it in 48 hours. Don't run away with a girl after one date when you've been dating someone else for three or four years. You've been dating this woman for 30 years, show a little respect."
↵
How long have you been dating this woman? And if the answer is "three or four years," why is it okay to go on even one date with another woman? Is it an open relationship? (I'll resist any obvious, obvious jokes about Pitino's personal life here.)
↵Mangled metaphors aside, this is the portion of Pitino's rant that's going to stick in the craw of Pitt fans.
↵↵↵"I can't picture the Big East without Syracuse. I can picture the Big East without Pittsburgh. It's tough for me to understand (Syracuse) since the alumni base is this area and Long Island."
↵
Pitino also said that the ACC's poaching of Pitt and Syracuse was about basketball, not football, despite evidence to the contrary.
