Pittsburgh Vs. Long Beach: Panthers Shocked, Fall 86-76 To 49ers

The Pittsburgh Panthers hosted the Long Beach 49ers, but it wasn't an easy game. The Panthers were stunned by the 49ers however, falling 86-76 and snapping a 58-game non-conference win streak at home. Long Beach was lead by guard Casper Ware and his 28 points, including hitting four three pointers. The 49ers played up even with the Panthers early in the first half, but then pulled away thanks to an 8-2 run in the final two minutes to take a 45-36 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the teams traded points back and forth, but it wasn't enough for the Panthers. The 49ers pressed to action and never let Pitt to get back within more than 6 points. Pitt didn't get much help from their bench, getting just two points total. Guard Ashton Gibbs led the way with 20 points while forward Nasir Robinson added another 19 points, but it wasn't enough.
