Pitt Coaching Search: Paul Rhoads, Teryl Austin Reportedly "Leading The Way"

Updating an earlier tweet tweet that named Florida International's Mario Cristobal as a "frontrunner" to replace Todd Graham at Pitt, WPXI's Rich Walsh now reports he's hearing Iowa State's Paul Rhoads and the Baltimore Ravens' Teryl Austin are "leading the way" as well.

Rhoads, a longtime defensive coordinator under Walt Harris at Pitt, just finished his third season with the Cyclones. He has an overall record of 18-19 in Ames and led his team to a 6-6 record this season that included an upset of No. 2 Oklahoma State on Nov. 18. His Iowa State squad will face Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 30 in New York.

Austin, a Sharon native, played his college football at Pitt before filling assistants roles in the college ranks at Penn State, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Michigan and Florida and at the professional level with the Seahawks, Cardinals and Ravens. His last college job was with the Gators, where he was defensive coordinator in 2010 under Urban Meyer during his final season in Gainesville.
