As Pitt continues its search to replace former coach Todd Graham, who left to take the Arizona State job last Wednesday, Florida International head coach Mario Cristobal appears to be gaining a bit of an edge on the competition as Paul Zeise of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
It seems like we are moving closer to a resolution to this thing and Cristobal appears to be the leader in this (even though he still has his people trying to get his name out of it....) so we will have to continue to watch what happens. I've had several people tell me things seem to be leaning his way but I don't think it is a "done deal" or anything close to that.
FootballScoop.com reported on Sunday that Pitt had offered the job to Cristobal, but Pitt Athletics promptly issued a statement denying any offer had been made. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Jeff Potrykus also reports Cristobal has "emerged as Pittsburgh's No. 1 choice."
