A couple of sources are now reporting that Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst will be the Pitt Panthers’ new head football coach. Paul Zeise:

Quickly – because I have to finish some things and make some more phone calls – in case you missed it, Pitt is going to hire Paul Chryst.

ESPN:

Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst will be the next coach at Pittsburgh, sources told ESPN’s Joe Schad on Wednesday.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Just received confirmation from a Wisconsin source that offensive coordinator Paul Chryst has accepted an offer to become the next head coach at Pittsburgh.

Sports By Brooks:

I can confirm Paul Chryst as the next head football coach at Pittsburgh. Will be made official by the school within 48 hours.

These coaching searches are hard to predict, so it’s difficult to feel comfortable saying the Panthers have hired someone until we see him in Pitt gear at a press conference, but this looks pretty much official.

Here's an interview about Chryst with a Wisconsin blogger.
