College Basketball Rankings: Pitt Falls Nine Spots After Wagner Loss

Unsurprisingly, the Panthers dropped in the coaches poll after losing to Wagner.

The Pitt Panthers unsurprisingly took a tumble down the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll this week after their loss to Wagner, falling from No. 13 to No. 22. 13-0 Syracuse, meanwhile, is in the top spot. Other Big East teams include Louisville (No. 4), UConn (No. 9), Georgetown (No. 12) and Marquette (No. 13).

1. Syracuse (30) 13-0

7. Baylor 12-0

10. Florida 10-2
11. Wisconsin 11-2

23. Harvard 10-1

25. Kansas State 10-1

West Virginia, which was impressive this week in its loss to Baylor, received one vote.

The Panthers will have plenty of opportunities to move up in the rankings as conference play begins in the Big East. This week, Pitt faces Notre Dame on Tuesday and Cincinnati on New Year's Day. The Panthers will have a tough streak of games in mid-January, when they'll face Marquette, Syracuse and Louisville back-to-back-to-back, then Georgetown two games later.
