There aren't many impact players out there that have yet to sign but still have Pitt on their radar. But there is one big (both literally and figuratively) fish left for the Panthers to hook.
Delvon Simmons, a four star recruit and the number three DT in the class of 2011, is a 6'5" 262 lb mountain of a man from McKeesport, PA. He is set to decide between Pitt, USC, North Carolina, Texas Tech and Oregon. According to Bob Rickert at OregonLive.com, Simmons is ready to decide just after 11 a.m. eastern. Warning: his analysis is from an Oregon perspective.
Simmons visited USC last weekend and returned home saying the visit went well and he liked it a lot. Doesn't mean he's going there though. No way to know who the favorite is here but I think Oregon has as good of a shot as any of them. The Ducks clearly need him more than anyone else to make the final leap.
Simmons would be a big get for the Panthers for a couple reasons. First and foremost, he is an excellent player. But secondly, he represents one of the State's best prospects. it's important for every school to keep their local talent at home, especially in the case of a difference-maker like Simmons.
