Jamie Dixon hired Bill Barton as his new basketball assistant, replacing departed coach Pat Skerry, who left to take the head job at Towson.
↵I wrote a while back at Cardiac Hill that Dixon might have former Pitt assistant Barry Rohrssen in mind. Rohrssen was a good assistant for Pitt, helping to land guys like Levance Fields, Chris Taft, Carl Krauser, and Ronald Ramon. He was just fired by Manhattan and was even seen in Pitt's NCAA Tournament games sitting with fans.
↵But Dixon had other thoughts and brought Barton in instead. Hard to argue with Dixon's success in recruiting great assistants, so I won't start now. Barton comes from Marshall, having worked under former Pitt assistant Tom Herrion there last season. He also previously coached at Notre Dame prep with players such as Michael Beasley and Ryan Gomes. That school is also the home of incoming 2011 recruit Khem Birch and could be a great source for future targets.
