CBI Results: Oregon Defeats Creighton, Wins Championship

The Oregon Ducks defeated Creighton in a best-of-three series to win the College Basketball Invitational tournament.

E.J. Singler's shot with two seconds remaining proved to be the difference in Oregon's 71-69 victory. Joevan Catron scored 29 points for the Ducks and was named the MVP of the tournament, while Singler had 15. Antoine Young scored 21 for Creighton.

Oregon lost the first of the three-game series on March 28, but came storming back with victories on Wednesday and Friday. You may recall that the Ducks eliminated Duquesne from the CBI in the second round. They also beat Weber State and Boise State. Oregon finishes its season at 21-18; that doesn't sound especially impressive, but the Ducks played in the tough Pac-10, which also featured Washington, Arizona and UCLA.

Creighton beat San Jose State, Davidson and UCF on its way to the CBI championship. The Bluejays finish with a 23-16 record overall.
